About the Author

Don't mind my aggressively large selfie to the left, I have a superiority complex.

My name is Briana Johnson, a junior at the University of Michigan, pursuing a degree in Communication Studies, and a minor in writing. I come from a tiny Michigan town on the water, Port Huron. Being one of the only black students in my graduating class, my identity definitely shaped a big part of how I view the world.

I grew up in a biracial family, my mom white and my dad black. A lot of who I am comes from them: my mom's strong-headed personality and my dad and I's love for movies really turned me into the strong-willed feminist I am today. It's probably a bad idea to ask me about movies, shows or music, because you're going to get a bigger analysis than you're expecting.

I consider myself to be an edgier version of every other millennial out there, loving to write poetry and watching "classic" films. So, yeah, every liberal arts major ever.
